The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 11:01 a.m. this day, in Room 228, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Gordon Brown, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Ray Boughen, Gordon Brown, Rick Dykstra, Ted Falk, Jim Hillyer, Irene Mathyssen, Pierre Nantel, Kennedy Stewart and John Weston.

 

Acting Members present: Yvonne Jones for Hon. Stéphane Dion.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michael Dewing, Analyst; Marion Ménard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Cerberus Management and Consulting: Brian Hetherman, President. Quebecor Media Inc.: J. Serge Sasseville, Vice-President, Corporate and Institutional Affairs; Christian Breton, Vice-President, Music sector, Groupe Archambault. Polaris Music Prize: Steve Jordan, Founder and Executive Director. RBC Ottawa Bluesfest: Mark Monahan, Executive Director. Canadian Tourism Commission: Greg Klassen, President and Chief Executive Officer. Tourism Industry Association of Canada: David F. Goldstein, President and Chief Executive Officer.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, December 5, 2013, the Committee resumed its review of the Canadian music industry.
 

Brian Hetherman, J. Serge Sasseville and Steve Jordan made statements and, with Christian Breton, answered questions.

 

At 11:59 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:04 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Mark Monahan, David F. Goldstein and Greg Klassen, by videoconference from Vancouver, British Columbia, made statements and answered questions.

 

At 12:58 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
