The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Ed Komarnicki, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Brad Butt, Jean Crowder, Rodger Cuzner, Joe Daniel, Carol Hughes, Ed Komarnicki, Kellie Leitch, Colin Mayes, Phil McColeman and Claude Patry.

 

Acting Members present: François Choquette for Manon Perreault and Jim Hillyer for Devinder Shory.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sandra Gruescu, Analyst; André Léonard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Physiotherapy Association: Michael Brennan, Chief Executive Officer. Health Action Lobby: Christine Nielsen, Member; Charles A. Shields, Member. Canadian Dental Association: Robert Lees, Representative, Registrations Manager, Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario; Benoit Soucy, Director, Clinical and Scientific Affairs. Centennial College: Sandra Murphy, Dean, School of Community and Health Studies. Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada: Andrew Padmos, Chief Executive Officer; Paul Tomascik, Senior Analyst, Health Policy and Partner Relations. As individuals: Ivy Lynn Bourgeault, Research Chair, Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Health Human Resources Policy; Anne Brasset-Latulippe, Research Coordinator, Canadian Health Human Resources Network, University of Ottawa.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on September 29, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of A Framework for Success: Practical Recommendations to Further Shorten the Foreign Qualification Recognition Process.
 

Michael Brennan, Charles Shields Jr., Christine Nielsen and Sandra Murphy made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:29 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:34 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

By unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit until 5:30 p.m.

 

Andrew Padmos, Benoit Soucy and Ivy Lynn Bourgeault made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 5:23 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
