The Standing Committee on Health met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Joy Smith, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Patrick Brown, Colin Carrie, Libby Davies, Hon. Hedy Fry, Matthew Kellway, Ben Lobb, Dany Morin, Djaouida Sellah, Joy Smith and David Wilks.

 

Acting Members present: Kyle Seeback for Kelly Block and Rodney Weston for Wladyslaw Lizon.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Martha Butler, Analyst; Karin Phillips, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: University of Ottawa: Doug Coyle, Professor, Epidemiology and Community Medicine. University of Ontario Institute of Technology: Carolyn McGregor, Canada Research Chair in Health Informatics, Professor and Associate Dean of Research, Faculty of Business and IT. Health Sciences North: Branden Shepitka, Emergency Department Health Record Project Lead, Ramsey Lake Health Centre, Emergency Department. As an individual: Pascal-A Vendittoli, Professor of Surgery, Funded Clinical Researcher. Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance: Andrew Williams, President and Chief Executive Officer.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 9, 2012, the Committee resumed its study of technological innovation.
 

Branden Shepitka, Carolyn McGregor, Andrew Williams and Doug Coyle made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:32 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:32 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Pascal-A Vendittoli, by videoconference from Montréal, Québec, made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 5:18 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
