The Standing Committee on Health met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Joy Smith, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Kelly Block, Patrick Brown, Colin Carrie, Hon. Hedy Fry, Parm Gill, Anne Minh-Thu Quach, Djaouida Sellah, Joy Smith, Mark Strahl and John Williamson.

 

Acting Members present: Carol Hughes for Libby Davies and Jinny Jogindera Sims for Dany Morin.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: Marie-France Renaud, Procedural Clerk. Library of Parliament: Sonya Norris, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Health Services Research Foundation: Maureen O'Neil, President. As an individual: Elizabeth Badley, Professor, Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto; Senior Scientist, Toronto Western Research Institute, University Health Network.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, October 3, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of chronic diseases related to aging.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:46 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:49 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee extend its study of chronic diseases related to aging by three (3) meetings, one (1) of which to be devoted to re-inviting the witnesses who appeared before the Committee on Wednesday, October 26, 2011, and one (1) to be devoted to hearing witnesses on the topic of older individuals living with chronic diseases in the workplace.

 

At 5:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
