The Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities met by videoconference at 11:03 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Merv Tweed, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dennis Bevington, Lois Brown, Hon. Gerry Byrne, Sukh Dhaliwal, Roger Gaudet, Michel Guimond, Brian Jean, Colin Mayes, Hon. John McCallum, Brad Trost, Merv Tweed and Jeff Watson.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: John Christopher, Analyst; Ardiana Hallaci, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: University of Ottawa: Mark B. Salter, Associate Professor, School of Political Studies. Canadian Council on American-Islamic Relations: Ihsaan Gardee, Executive Director; Khalid Elgazzar, Member of the Board of Directors. Greater Toronto Airports Authority: Toby Lennox, Vice-President, Corporate Affairs and Communications. The Liberty Coalition: Edward Hasbrouck, Airline Reservation Data Expert.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, October 26, 2010, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-42, An Act to amend the Aeronautics Act.
 

Mark B. Salter, Ihsaan Gardee, Toby Lennox and Edward Hasbrouck made statements and, with Khalid Elgazzar, answered questions.

 

At 12:28 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:34 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

John McCallum moved, — That the Committee immediately produce an interim report to the House related to its study of the March 31, 2011, deadline for infrastructure stimulus projects and that the report read as follows:

The Committee recommends that the Government move immediately to extend the stimulus deadline by 6 months for all projects across Canada.

Debate arose thereon.

 

It was agreed, — That debate resume on the motion at the beginning of the meeting on Thursday, December 2, 2010.

 

At 12:59 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
