The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met at 8:49 a.m. this day, in Room C-110, 1 Wellington Street, the Vice-Chair, Irene Mathyssen, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Sylvie Boucher, Lois Brown, Dona Cadman, Nicole Demers, Nina Grewal, Irene Mathyssen, Cathy McLeod and Michelle Simson.

 

Acting Members present: John Cannis for Hon. Hedy Fry, Hon. Irwin Cotler for Hon. Anita Neville and Johanne Deschamps for Luc Desnoyers.

 

Associate Members present: Leon Benoit.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Havi Echenberg, Analyst; Laura Munn-Rivard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Alan H. Kessel, Legal Adviser; Melanie Bejzyk, Legal Officer, UN, Human Rights and Humanitarian Law Section. Status of Women Canada: Suzanne Clément, Coordinator, Head of Agency, Office of the Coordinator; Sébastien Goupil, Executive Director, Gender-Based Analysis and Strategic Policy Branch; Linda Savoie, Director General, Women's Program and Regional Operations; Johanne Tremblay, Acting Director, Corporate Services.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, October 7, 2010, the Committee commenced its study on language changes at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
 

The witnesses answered questions.

 

At 9:40 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:45 a.m., the sitting resumed and Cathy McLeod took the chair.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee commenced consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2010-2011: Vote 95b under CANADIAN HERITAGE referred to the Committee on Thursday, November 4, 2010.
 

The Chair called Vote 95b under CANADIAN HERITAGE.

 

Suzanne Clément made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

Vote 95b under CANADIAN HERITAGE carried.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair report Vote 95b, under CANADIAN HERITAGE to the House.
