The Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee met in camera at 1:05 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Dean Allison, James Bezan, Hon. Hedy Fry, Larry Miller, Hon. Shawn Murphy, Joe Preston, Lee Richardson and Merv Tweed.

 

Other Members present: Hon. Maxime Bernier and David Tilson.

 

In attendance: Standing Committee on National Defence: Paul Cardegna, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration: Andrew Bartholomew Chaplin, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities: Bonnie Charron, Clerk of the Committee. Library of Parliament: James Robertson, Senior Director (acting).

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 107(1), the Subcommittee resumed its study on budget submissions.
 

The Clerk gave a presentation of the financial status of the global envelope for committee activities.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on National Defence be granted a travel budget of $128,516 to travel to Yellowknife, Northwest Territories; Elmendorf Air Force Base, Anchorage, Alaska, USA and Winnipeg, Manitoba in relation to its study on arctic sovereignty, in February/March 2010.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities be granted a travel budget of $23,622 to travel to La Pocatière, Quebec in relation to its study of high speed rail in Canada, in January/February 2010.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration be granted a travel budget of $134,886 to travel to Nairobi, Kenya; Chandigarh and New Delhi, India; Hong Kong, China and Taipei, Taiwan in relation to its study of immigration application process wait times, in January/February of 2010.

 

At 1:29 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
