The Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics met in a televised session at 9:05 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Paul Szabo, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Patricia Davidson, Luc Desnoyers, Carole Freeman, Pierre Poilievre, Greg Rickford, Bill Siksay, Michelle Simson, Paul Szabo and Borys Wrzesnewskyj.

 

Acting Members present: Harold Albrecht for Kelly Block and Dean Allison for Bob Dechert.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Élise Hurtubise-Loranger, Analyst; Alysia Davies, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Office of the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner: Mary Dawson, Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner; Eppo Maertens, Acting Assistant Commissioner, Learning and Communications; Lyne Robinson-Dalpé, Assistant Commissioner, Advisory and Compliance; Nancy Bélanger, General Counsel.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

Pursuant to Standing Orders 32(5) and 108(3)(h)(iv), the Committee commenced consideration of the Annual Report of the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner's activities in relation to public office holders under the Conflict of Interest Act for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2009, referred to the Committee on Wednesday, June 17, 2009.
 

Mary Dawson made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the following witnesses: Officials of the Privy Council Office be invited to appear in order to elaborate on the document “Accountable Government: A Guide to Ministers and Ministers of State - 2008”.

 

At 10:49 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
