The Standing Committee on International Trade met in camera at 9:04 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Lee Richardson, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Hon. Scott Brison, Ron Cannan, John Cannis, Serge Cardin, Claude Guimond, Richard M. Harris, Peter Julian, Gerald Keddy, Lee Richardson and Mario Silva.

 

Acting Members present: Mike Allen for Ed Holder.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jennifer Paul, Analyst. House of Commons: Carmen DePape, Procedural Clerk.

 

Witnesses: Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Ian Burney, Chief Trade Negotiator, Bilateral and Regional; Cameron MacKay, Director, Regional Trade Policy Division, Americas; James Lambert, Director General, Latin America and Carribean. Department of Finance: Carol Nelder-Corvari, Director, International Trade Policy Division. Department of Human Resources and Skills Development: Pierre Bouchard, Director, Inter-American Labour Cooperation. Department of the Environment: Dean Knudson, Director General, Americas. Embassy of the Republic of Colombia: His Excellency Jaime Giron Duarte, Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia to Canada. The Senate of the Republic of Colombia: Hon. Jorge Enrique Robledo, Senator.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced its study of Canada-South America Trade Relations.
 

Ian Burney made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 9:37 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:43 a.m., the Committee proceeded to sit in public.

 

Jorge Enrique Robledo and His Excellency Jaime Giron Duarte made statements and, answered questions.

 

At 10:50 a.m., by unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), the Committee continue to sit until 11: 00 a.m.

 

At 11:03 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
