The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met by videoconference at 9:00 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Yasmin Ratansi, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Sylvie Boucher, Patricia Davidson, Nicole Demers, Johanne Deschamps, Irene Mathyssen, Hon. Maria Minna, Glen Douglas Pearson, Yasmin Ratansi and Bruce Stanton.

Acting Members present: Hon. Sue Barnes for Hon. Anita Neville.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Shahrzad Mobasher Fard, Analyst ; Clara Morgan, Analyst ; Karine Richer, Analyst.

Witnesses: Imagine Canada: Georgina Steinsky-Schwartz, President and Chief Executive Officer. As an individual: Dorienne Rowan-Campbell, Independent Development Consultant and Gender Consultant. Laval University: Louise Langevin, Professor of Law. Department of Citizenship and Immigration: Peter Oberle, Director General, Corporate Affairs; Allison Little Fortin, Director, Corporate Planning and Reporting; Jeff Daly, Manager, Program Development and Analysis Unit, Resettlement Division, Refugees Branch; Julie Fontaine, Senior Analyst, Gender-Based Analysis.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on November 21, 2007, the Committee resumed its study on Gender Budgets.

Georgina Steinsky-Schwartz, Dorienne Rowan-Campbell and Louise Langevin made statements and answered questions.

At 10:04 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:09 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Peter Oberle made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 10:59 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
