The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Gary Schellenberger, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Jim Abbott, Charlie Angus, Hon. Mauril Bélanger, Sylvie Boucher, Ed Fast, Tina Keeper, Maka Kotto, Luc Malo, Francis Scarpaleggia, Gary Ralph Schellenberger, Scott Simms and Chris Warkentin.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Marion Ménard; Matthew Carnaghan.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Railroad Historical Association: Stephen Cheasley, Exporail, Canadian Railway Museum; Marie-Claude Reid, Exporail, Canadian Railway Museum; Daniel Laurendeau, Exporail, Canadian Railway Museum.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study related to Canadian museums.
 

Stephen Cheasley made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 5:12 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:16 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Charlie Angus moved, — That the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage invites witnesses from organizations who have utilized the Court Challenges Program.

Debate arose thereon.

 

Ed Fast moved, — That the motion be amended by adding the following words: “and from organizations who have applied and were not successful”.

 

After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Ed Fast and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 6; NAYS: 4.

 

The question was put on the motion, as amended, and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 6; NAYS: 2.

 

At 5:37 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
