The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 9:00 a.m. this day, in Room 705, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Gerry Ritz, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: David L. Anderson, Alex Atamanenko, André Bellavance, James Bezan, Ken Boshcoff, Claude DeBellefeuille, Jacques Gourde, Gary Merasty, Larry Miller, Gerry Ritz and Paul Steckle.

 

Associate Members present: Barry Devolin.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Denis Fréchette, Principal.

 

Witnesses: Farmer Rail Car Coalition: Bernie Churko, Chief Executive Officer; Sinclair Harrison, President; Bob Barss, Councillor. Canadian Transportation Agency: Alain Langlois, Counsel; Frank Urban, Acting Director, Rail Economics Directorate. Canadian Federation of Agriculture: Justin To, Analyst, Farm Policy. Canola Council of Canada: Tyler Bjornson, Vice President.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced its study on the Hopper car fleet.
 

The witnesses from the Farmer Rail Car Coalition made statements and answered questions.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced its study of Biofuel Strategy .
 

At 10:25 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:28 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

The witnesses from the Canadian Federation of Agriculture and Canola Council of Canada made statements and answered questions.

 

At 11:08 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
