NEWS RELEASE
NEW: Cross-country hearings of the Subcommittee on Fiscal Imbalance of the Standing Committee on Finance
Ottawa, March 10, 2005 -
Tomorrow, the Subcommittee on Fiscal Imbalance of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance will continue its study with public hearings in Toronto, Ontario. Among the witnesses making a presentation to the Subcommittee will be the Hon.. Greg Sorbara, Minister of Finance for the Government of Ontario and Mr.John Tory Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario.
The Subcommittee`s hearings will be held in Room Toronto III of the Hilton Toronto beginning at 8 a.m. on 11 March 2005.
Additional public hearings will be held in Regina on 21 March, in Victoria on 4 April, in Quebec City on 11 April, in Winnipeg on 18 April and in Edmonton on 2 May, On 18 February, public hearings were held in Halifax, Nova Scotia. At that time, Mr. Mitchell Murphy, Treasurer for the Province of Prince Edward Island, was among the Subcommittee`s witnesses.
