MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 55

Wednesday, June 11, 2003

The Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met in camera at 3:40 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Peter Adams, presiding.

Members of the Committee present:  Peter Adams, Marlene Catterall, Rodger Cuzner, Joe Jordan, Lynn Myers, Carolyn Parrish and Jacques Saada.

Acting Members present:  Mac Harb for Marlene Catterall (at 5:19 p.m.); Ken Epp for Dale Johnston; Jean-Yves Roy for Michel Guimond; Rex Barnes for Gerald Keddy.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: James Robertson, principal; Margaret Young, Research Officer.

Pursuant to its mandate under Standing Order 108(3)(a)(iii), the Committee resumed consideration of matters related to the inclusion of a code of conduct in the Standing Orders of the House.

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

It was agreed, - That the draft report be the interim report of the Committee and that the Chair do present the report to the House.

At 5:21 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:24 p.m., the sitting resumed.

The Committee considered its future business.

Pursuant to the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act, R.S. 1985, c. E-3, the Committee resumed consideration of matters related to the reports of the electoral boundaries commissions.

It was ordered, - That the Chair do present to the House a report requesting an extension of the period provided for the consideration of objections to the reports of the commissions for British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec.

At 5:35 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
