The Sub-Committee on Human Rights and International Development of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 208, West Block, the Chair, Beth Phinney, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Antoine Dubé, Marlene Jennings, Beth Phinney, Svend Robinson.
Acting Members present: Charles Hubbard for Colleen Beaumier; Betty Hinton for Deepak Obhrai.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: James Lee, Research Officer.
Witnesses: From the Rights and Democracy: The Honourable Warren Allmand, President; Mary Durran, Communications Assistant. From the Canadian International Development Agency: Bob Anderson, Vice-President, Americas; Romy Peters, Acting Director, Brazil, Southern Cone and Colombia, South America Division; Claude Beauséjour, Senior Program Analyst, Brazil, Southern Cone and Colombia, South America Division. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Sub-Committee continued its study of human rights, development and other matters in Colombia.
The Honourable Warren Allmand made an opening statement and, with Mary Durran, answered questions.
At 4:27 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 4:31 p.m., the sitting was resumed.
Bob Anderson made an opening statement and, with Romy Peters and Claude Beauséjour, answered questions.
Francisco Ramínez made an opening statement and answered questions.
At 5:38 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
