Tuesday, November 27, 2001
The Sub-Committee on the Status of Persons with Disabilities of the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met in a televised session at 4:02 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Carolyn Bennett, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Carolyn Bennett, Madeleine Dalphond-Guiral, Wendy Lill, Larry Spencer and Tony Tirabassi.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Bill Young, Research Officer.
Witnesses: As Individual: Lembi Buchanan. From the Alzheimer Society of Canada: Mary Ann Chang. From the Canadian Mental Health Association: Ed Pennington; Wendy Steinberg. From the Learning Disabilities Association of Canada: Pauline Mantha, Executive Director. From the Schizophrenia Society of Canada: Len Wall, President, Schizophrenia Society of Ontario.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(c) Study of the matters relating to the proposing, promoting, monitoring and assessing of initiatives aimed at the integration and equality of disabled persons in all sectors of Canadian Society: Round table on the Disability Tax Credit.
Wendy Lill moved, --That the Sub-Committee on the Status of Persons with Disabilities of the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities undertake a study on the current operation of the Disability Tax Credit form T2201.
After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) – The Sub-Committee commenced its study of the current operation of the Disability Tax Credit form T2201, (See Minutes of Proceedings of Tuesday, November 27, 2001, Meeting no. 10).
The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.
At 5:30 p.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
