Thursday, May 3, 2001

The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 9:11 a.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Wayne Easter, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Sarkis Assadourian, John Cummins, Wayne Easter, Dominic LeBlanc, James Lunney, Bill Matthews, Lawrence O'Brien, Jean-Yves Roy, Guy St-Julien, Peter Stoffer.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Alan Nixon, Research Officer.

Witnesses: As Individuals: Mike Forrest; Ian Todd. From the Department of Fisheries and Oceans: Laura Richards, Regional Director, Science, Pacific Region; Heather James, Chief, Pacific Operations, Resource Management Directorate.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to review the problems of the Adams River sockeye salmon.

Ian Todd, Mike Forrest and Laura Richards made opening statements and, with Heather James, answered questions.

At 11:02 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
