The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs, Northern Development and Natural Resources met in a televised session at 11:45 a.m. this day, in Room 208, West Block, the Chair, Raymond Bonin, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Raymond Bonin, John Finlay, John Godfrey, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Richard Marceau.
Acting Member present: Myron Thompson for Reed Elley.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages; Mary Hurley and Carole Hilling, researchers.
Witness(es): From the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development: Warren Johnson, Assistant Deputy Minister, Lands and Trust Services; Geneviève Thériault, Legal Counsel; Brenda Kustra, Executive Advisor.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of an
overview of the evolution of the Indian Act. (See Minutes of Proceedings
February 19, 2002, meeting No. 39).
Warren Johnson made an opening statement and, with the witnesses, answered questions.
At 1:04 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
