Meeting No. 10
Wednesday, May 3, 2000
The Sub-Committee on Children and Youth at Risk of the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:37 p.m. this day, in Room 307, West Block, the Chair, John Godfrey, presiding.
Member(s) of the Sub-Committee present: Libby Davies, Christiane Gagnon, John Godfrey, Ovid Jackson and Eric Lowther.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Julie Mackenzie, Research Officer.
Witness(es): From the Treasury Board of Canada - Secretariat: Michel Papineau, Director, Human Resources Management Group; Jean-Marc Gagnon, Labour Relations Consultant, Labour Relations and Human Resources Management Division Human Resources Branch.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), and its Order of Reference from the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities (See Minutes of Proceedings Tuesday, February 29, 2000 - Meeting No.15); the Sub-Committee resumed its study on the future of children and youth in Canada with particular reference to the integration of work and family responsibilities.
Michel Papineau made a statement and answered questions.
At 4:30 p.m. the Sub-Committee proceeded to discuss its future business.
Ovid Jackson moved, -- That the Sub-Committee on Children and Youth at Risk approve the draft workplan respecting for early child development services.
After debate, the question being put on the motion, it was agreed to.
It was agreed, -- That the Sub-Committee on Children and Youth at Risk approve the proposed budget of $12,100, for the period of April 1 to June 30, 2000 and that the Chair be authorized to present the said budget to the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities.
At 4:45 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
