Thursday, November 18, 1999

The Standing Committee of Public Accounts met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Vice-Chair, John Richardson, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Hec Clouthier, Marlene Jennings, Gilles-A. Perron, Beth Phinney, George Proud, John Richardson.

Acting Members present: Paul Forseth for John Cummings and René Laurin for Benoît Sauvageau.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean Dupuis; Brian O'Neal, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Office of the Auditor General of Canada: Maria Barrados, Assistant Auditor General; Ronnie Campbell, Principal, Audit Operations Branch. From the Health Canada: Dann Michols, Director General, Therapeutic Products Programme, Health Protection Branch; Ian MacKay, Manager, Special Access Programme, Bureau of Pharmaceutical Assessment. From the Department of National Defence: BGen Claude Auger, Surgeon General and Commander, Canadian Forces Medical Group; LCol Greg Cook, Head, Public Health, Directorate of Medical Policy.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), consideration of Other Audit Operations of the April 1999 Report of the Auditor General of Canada

The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.
