MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS
Meeting No. 27
Thursday, June 1st, 2000
The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met in camera at 3:46 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Vice-Chair, John Richardson, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: John Finlay, Mac Harb, Marlene Jennings, Steve Mahoney, John Richardson, Benoît Sauvageau and Judy Sgro.
Acting Members present: Pierre Brien for Gilles A. Perron; Ken Epp for Philip Mayfield.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean Dupuis and Brian O'Neal, Research Officers.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), the Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters relating to Committee business.
It was agreed, - That the Chair of the Committee be authorized to seek the authority and the necessary funds to permit up to five (5) members of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts and three (3) staff persons of the Committee to travel to Halifax, Nova Scotia, to attend the Twenty - First Annual Conference of the Canadian Council of Public Accounts Committees from September 17 to 19, 2000, and that the members attending the Conference utilize their air travel points to travel to the Conference.
It was agreed, - That the travel budget in the amount of $13,200.00 to attend the Conference in Halifax be adopted.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), the Committee proceeded to the consideration of a Draft Report on Chapter 23 (Involving Others in Governing: Accountability at Risk) and Chapter 24 (The Canadian Adaptation and Rural Development Fund: An Example of Involving Others in Governing) of the November 1999 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.
The attention of the Chair was drawn to the lack of a quorum and, fewer than 9 members having been counted, the names of the Members present were taken down as follows:
Members present: John Finlay, Mac Harb, Marlene Jennings, Steve Mahoney, John Richardson and Judy Sgro.
Acting Member present: Ken Epp for Philip Mayfield.
At 3:54 p.m., the Chair declared the Committee adjourned for want of quorum.
