THURSDAY, February 12, 1998
The Standing Committee on Health met at 9:05 o’clock a.m., this day, in
room 705, La Promenade Bldg., the Chair, Beth Phinney, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Carolyn Bennett, Elinor Caplan, Aileen Carroll, Claude Drouin, Maurice Dumas, Reed Elley, Grant Hill, Lynn Myers, Joseph Volpe, Judy Wasylycia-Leis.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Odette Madore, Nancy Miller-Chenier and Gérald Lafrenière, Research Officers.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of natural health products. (See Minutes of Proceedings dated Thursday, November 20, 1997.)
Witnesses: From the Canadian Coalition of Herbal Associations: Michael Vertolli, President; Chanchal Cabrera, Member. From the Tzu Chi Institute for Complementary and Alternative Medicine: Dr. Allan Best, President & CEO. From the First Nations Health Commission: Brenda Thomas, Senior Policy Analyst.
The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.
At 10:30 o’clock a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
