MINUTES OF PROCEEDING

Thursday, October 16, 1997

The Standing Committee on Finance met at 9:30 o’clock a.m., this day, in the Canadian North Room, Regina, the Vice-Chair, Paddy Torsney, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Roger Gallaway, David Iftody, Gilles A. Perron, Gerry Ritz and Paddy Torsney.

Associate Members present: Scott Brison and Lorne Nystrom.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch: Richard Domingue, Research Officer.

Witnesses: Round Table 1 -- From the Saskatchewan Council of International Cooperation: Ginny Guiboche, President. From the Canadian Mental Health Association: Dr. John Hylton. Round Table 2 -- From the University of Regina Student Union: Marjorie Brown, President. From the Saskatchewan Child Care Association: Peter Morin. From the University of Regina: Dr. Donald Wells, President. From Frank Buck Agencies: Frank Buck, President. From the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool: Marvin Shauf; Dan Schmeiser. From the Saskatchewan Motion Picture Association: Ron Goetz, Past President. From the Canada Wesr Equipment Dealers: John Schmeiser. From the Immigrant Women’s Society: Jean Lara. From the City of Regina: Mayor Douglas Archer.

In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 83.1, the Committee resumed its Pre-Budget Consultation Study. (See Minutes of Proceedings of Wednesday, October 15, 1997, Meeting No. 3).

The witnesses participating in Round Table One made statements and answered questions.

At 10:35 o’clock a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:43 o’clock a.m., the sitting resumed.

The witnesses participating in Round Table Two made statements and answered questions.

At 12:25 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
