MINUTES OF PROCEEDING
Friday, October 17, 1997
The Standing Committee on Finance met at 9:18 o’clock a.m., this day, in the Manitoba Ballroom A, Winnipeg, the Vice-Chair, Paddy Torsney, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Roger Gallaway, David Iftody, Gilles A. Perron, Gerry Ritz and Paddy Torsney.
Other Member present: Pat Martin (Winnipeg Centre).
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch: Richard Domingue, Research Officer.
Witnesses: Round Table 2 -- From the Manitoba Chamber of Commerce: Don Overall, Vice-President. From the Western Canada Wheat Growers Association: Larry Maguire, President. From the Thomas Sill Foundation: Norman Fiske, President. From the Crocus Investment Fund: Sherman Kreiner, President and CEO. From the Manitoba Research Council: Dr. Gary Glavin, Vice-President, Research, University of Manitoba. From the Manitoba Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation: Dr. Arnold Greenberg. From the Brandon Chamber of Commerce: Todd Lumbard, President.
In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 83.1, the Committee resumed its Pre-Budget Consultation Study. (See Minutes of Proceedings of Wednesday, October 15, 1997, Meeting No. 3).
The witnesses participating in Round Table Two made statements and answered questions.
At 2:40 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
