Thursday, February 25, 1999

The Sub-Committee of the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 1:08 p.m. this day, in the Stanley Park Room of the West Bayshore hotel, Vancouver, British Columbia, the Chair, Sarmite Bulte, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Mauril Bélanger, Sarmite Bulte, Eric Lowther, Ted McWhinney, Mark Muise and Benoît Sauvageau.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Wanda Noël, Consultant.

Round Table Participants: From the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria: Nicolas Tuele, Director. From the Burnaby Arts Council: Nancy Gobis, President and Rose Farinar. From the Canadian Craft Museum: James Wegg, Executive Director. From the Canadian War Museum: Stuart T. McDonald. From the Coastal Jazz and Blues Society: Robert Kerr, Executive Director. From the "Conseil culturel et artistique francophone de la Colombie-Britannique": Isabelle Longnus, Director General. From the Royal British Columbia Museum: Brent Cooke. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Sub-Committee resumed consideration of a Canadian Cultural Policy.

The Chair made opening remarks.

The Members and participants proceeded to a round table discussion and invited comments from the audience.

At 3:06 p.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
