"Grant us wisdom, knowledge and understanding to preserve
the blessings of this country for the benefit of all and
to make good laws and wise decisions."
A portion of the prayer recited by the Speaker of the
House of Commons to begin each sitting of the House of
Commons.
Firmly rooted in centuries of British parliamentary
tradition and Canadian experience, the House of Commons
of Canada voices the convictions and aspirations of the
Canadian people. Each day, Members of Parliament -through
their work in the Chamber, committees, caucuses,
constituencies and international forums- serve and
represent Canadians, and strive to remain true to their
solemn commitment to make good laws and wise decisions,
and preserve the blessings of the country.
