The Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met at 11:08 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Hon. Don Boudria, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Françoise Boivin, Hon. Don Boudria, Bill Casey, Michel Guimond, Hon. Dominic LeBlanc, Hon. Judi Longfield, Pauline Picard, Hon. Karen Redman, Scott Reid and John Reynolds.

 

Acting Members present: Dave Batters for John Reynolds, Hon. Ed Broadbent for Yvon Godin, Ruby Dhalla for Hon. Karen Redman, Jay Hill for Dale Johnston and Peter Julian for Yvon Godin.

 

Associate Members present: Stéphane Bergeron.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: James Robertson, Principal.

 

Witnesses: Office of the Chief Electoral Officer: Jean-Pierre Kingsley, Chief Electoral Officer of Canada; Diane R. Davidson, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer and Chief Legal Counsel; Luc Dumont, Director of Operations; Rennie Molnar, Senior Director, Register and Geography; Janice Vézina, Senior Director, Election Financing and Corporate Services.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 32(5), the Committee commenced consideration of the Report of the Chief Electoral Officer of Canada on the 38th General Election held on June 28, 2004, referred to the Committee on Thursday, October 21, 2004.
 

Jean-Pierre Kingsley made a statement.

 

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That the remainder of the statement by Jean-Pierre Kingsley be taken as read and published in today’s Evidence.

 

The witnesses answered questions.

 

At 12:59 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
