The Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met at 11:05 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Hon. Don Boudria, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Don Boudria, Bill Casey, Yvon Godin, Michel Guimond, Jay Hill, Dale Johnston, Hon. Dominic LeBlanc, Hon. Judi Longfield, Pauline Picard, Hon. Karen Redman, Scott Reid and Hon. Raymond Simard.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Ed Broadbent for Yvon Godin.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: James Robertson, Principal.

 

Witnesses: House of Commons: Rob Walsh, Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel. Office of the Ethics Commissioner: Bernard Shapiro, Ethics Commissioner; Robert F. Benson, Deputy Ethics Commissioner.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Thursday, October 6, 2005, the Committee resumed consideration of the question of privilege relating to an inquiry conducted by the Ethics Commissioner.
 

At 11:08 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:10 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Rob Walsh made a statement and answered questions.

 

Bernard Shapiro made a statement and, with the other witness, answered questions.

 

Raymond Simard moved, — That the Committee proceed to sit in camera.

 

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division: YEAS: Yvon Godin, Dominic LeBlanc, Judi Longfield, Pauline Picard, Karen Redman, Raymond Simard — 6; NAYS: Bill Casey, Michel Guimond, Jay Hill, Dale Johnston, Scott Reid — 5.

 

Accordingly, at 12:42 p.m., the Committee proceeded to sit in camera.

 

At 1:12 p.m., the Committee resumed sitting in public.

 

At 1:13 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
