MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Monday, April 20, 1998

The Standing Committee on Finance met at 10:30 o’clock a.m., this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Maurizio Bevilacqua, Dick Harris, Yvan Loubier, Gary Pillitteri, Karen Redman, Nelson Riis, Paul Szabo, Paddy Torsney andTony Valeri.

Acting Members present: Paul Crête for Gilles Perron. At 12:03 p.m. Rchard Marceau for Yvan Loubier.

Other Member present: Christiane Gagnon.

In accordance with the Order of Reference of the House of Commons of Tuesday, March 31, 1998, the Committee commenced consideration of Bill C-36, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on February 24, 1998. (See Minutes of Proceedings of Thursday, April 2, 1998, Meeting No. 67).

The officials answered questions on Parts 1 - 13 of the Bill.

At 12:01 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
