Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, April 23, 2018, the Committee resumed its study of mental health challenges that Canadian farmers, ranchers, and producers face.

Robert Johnston, by teleconference from Brooks, Alberta, Chris van den Heuvel and Fred Phelps made statements and answered questions.

At 9:44 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:45 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Committee conduct a study on strengthening indigenous support in the Canadian agriculture and agri-food industries, in order to better understand the unique needs, challenges, and opportunities of Indigenous Canadians, and how the government of Canada can better develop agricultural programs and policies that are more inclusive and support greater Indigenous participation and growth in the agriculture and agri-food sector.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of the support of Indigenous Canadians in the agriculture and agri-food industry, each party sends a list of suggested witnesses, including their contact information, to the clerk of the Committee no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 16, 2018.

At 10:36 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
