M-521 Discrimination of civil service and military personnel

41st Parliament, 2nd Session

Motion Text

That, in the opinion of the House, the government should: (a) recognize that past federal policies that discriminated against and penalized members of the civil service and military personnel based solely on their sexual orientation or gender identity were grievously unjust; (b) recognize that these policies caused personal suffering and harm, including suicide, and the loss of professional careers, for many individuals who gave service to their country; and (c) issue an apology for these policies and re-commit to uphold the rights and dignity of all people.
