The Standing Committee on Finance met in camera at 12:18 o'clock p.m. this day, in Room 306, West Block, the Chair, Jim Peterson, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Richard Bélisle, Leon Benoit, Dianne Brushett, Barry Campbell, Brenda Chamberlain, Ron Duhamel, Ron Fewchuk, Herb Grubel, Jim Peterson, Gary Pillitteri and Susan Whelan.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Marion Wrobel, Research Officer.
In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced its consideration of a report on the impact of Bill C-70, An Act to amend the Excise Tax Act, the Federal-Provincial Fiscal Arrangements Act, the Income Tax Act, the Debt Servicing and Reduction Account Act and related Acts (See Minutes of Proceedings and Evidence, dated January 20, 1997, Issue No. 9, Meeting No. 79).
The Committee considered its draft report.
It was agreed,--That the proposed report be concurred in as the Eight Report of the Committee.
Ordered,--That the Chair present the Eighth report to the House.
It was agreed,--That the Committee authorize the printing of dissenting opinions from the Bloc québécois and the Reform Party as appendices to the report, immediately following the Chairman's signature.
At 12:34 o'clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
