This image depicts the bas-relief entitled
Jacques Cartier maps the shores of the St.
Lawrence River. It is taken from the History
of Canada series, a monumental frieze located in
the House of Commons Foyer. The series portrays
key social, economic and political developments
over a 25,000 year period and was carved by R.
Eleanor Milne, Dominion Sculptress (1962-1993)
and her team between 1962 and 1974. Images and
