Petition to the Minister of National Defence

Whereas:
  • Heart of Oak has been the march of the Royal Canadian Navy for over 100 years;
  • The traditions, customs, and music of the Royal Canadian Navy are a source of pride for Canadians and should be maintained; and
  • Internal documents released through access to information show that the Royal Canadian Navy is planning to replace Heart of Oak as its official march.
We, the undersigned, citizens and residents of Canada, call upon the Minister of National Defence to:
1. Keep Heart of Oak as the official march of the Royal Canadian Navy; and
2. Abandon all plans to alter, remove or replace Heart of Oak as the official march of the Royal Canadian Navy.
