Petition to the Government of Canada

Whereas:
  • Various issues are affecting members of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), a recognized political party in Bangladesh;
  • Many Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) members are facing inadmissibility to Canada under section 34(1)(f) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA), which concerns security-based inadmissibility due to suspected involvement in terrorism, espionage, or subversion;
  • This interpretation is unjust, as the BNP has consistently engaged in democratic processes and governed Bangladesh;
  • Its members, including those seeking asylum in Canada, are law-abiding citizens committed to democratic values and not involved in subversive activities; and
  • Many have been unfairly affected by broad associations with the BNP despite having no ties to security threats.
We, the undersigned, members of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to:
1. Review the application of IRPA 34(1)(f) concerning BNP members;
2. Base admissibility decisions on individual actions, not political affiliation; and
3. Consider the peaceful contributions of BNP members when assessing admissibility.
4.Grant Declaration Relief under subsection 42 .1 (1) of the Immigration & Refugee Protection Act (Minister Relief)
