Petition to the Government of Canada

Whereas:
  • Crimes against persons have been occurring unnoticed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) for over 20 years;
  • Rwanda continues its aggression;
  • The UN’s recent reports in 2024 highlight the major players and roles behind this war, which as of today has resulted in over 12 million dead and nearly 7 million internally displaced, who are languishing in refugee camps. These reports blame the Rwandan government’s involvement in supporting the M23 and Congo River Alliance (CRA) terrorists, who are also behind the illegal extraction of mineral ores in eastern DRC;
  • The UN’s efforts have failed.
We, the undersigned, Congolese citizens residing in Canada, call upon the Government of Canada and the Prime Minister to:
1. Take concrete actions and measures to support the Congolese government’s efforts, as it has for Ukraine; and
2. Stand resolutely and in solidarity with the Congolese people by condemning and developing sanctions against the Rwandan government and all its accomplices in the conflict so that justice is served for the women and children who have been raped and all the victims of crimes against persons in eastern DRC.
