Petition to the Government of Canada
Whereas:
- Canada prioritizes the progress of the implementation of the 94 Calls to Action published by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission;
- Canada ensures the highest quality of implementation possible for the 94 Calls to Action; and
- The Indigenous people of Canada receive monetary reparations.
We, the undersigned, citizens and residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to enact legislation by the end of 2030 for:
1. The purpose of implementing, and properly enforcing the implementation of, all of the 94 Calls to Action, including but not limited to:
(i) the establishment of the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation as a national holiday,
(ii) the allocation of equal funds towards Indigenous-led child and family services compared to provincial systems,
(iii) the creation of more Indigenous healing lodges across Canada, within the federal correctional system; and
2. The express purpose of the betterment of the lives of Indigenous peoples in Canada.
