Petition to the Government of Canada
- Point-of-care and rapid antigen tests (RAT) are effective in determining a SARS CoV-2 infection is not present in the individual tested;
- RATs are less invasive to the person both medically and financially than the (polymerase chain reaction) PCR test;
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is retiring the CDC 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel, because the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has authorized hundreds of other SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic tests;
- The European Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America, who are leading the way in COVID testing methods, all include RATs as options for travellers; and
- Health Canada has approved several of these tests for use within Canada at recreational facilities, restaurants, businesses, employers and for school.
