- Conversion “therapy” is not a form of therapy in any way; it causes direct, permanent, and serious harm to the victim;
- Conversion “therapy” is the systematic removal of an individual’s identity that targets a minority group for erasure;
- Bill C-6 in the 43rd Parliament was an attempt to end this cruel form of misguided treatment;
- Bill C-6 did not become law due to the dissolution of Parliament on August 15, 2021;
- 63 members of Parliament (MPs) of the 43rd Parliament voted against Bill C-6 at third reading;
- 53 of the MPs who voted against Bill C-6 were re-elected to the 44th Parliament;
- There is a lack of knowledge, awareness and sensitivity to the needs and rights of 2SLGBTQ+ individuals; and
- All MPs should provide equal representation to constituents, including 2SLGBTQ+ individuals.
