Petition to the House of Commons in Parliament assembled
- There have been over 1,600,000 cases of COVID-19 in Canada;
- Over 28,000 Canadians have died of COVID-19;
- COVID-19 will continue to exist in the future;
- Catastrophes similar to the pandemic are likely to occur sooner or later in the future;
- Inefficient policies in the future may contribute to the deaths and suffering of many Canadians;
- To prevent future deaths, both from the pandemic and any similar event that may occur, it is necessary to review the government's actions against the pandemic since its beginning through a public inquiry that should be as independent as possible of any outside interests and have the authority to access relevant information; and
- This investigation would allow conclusions to be drawn and the government to act accordingly in the future and present, including but not limited to appropriate changes to federal legislation, as well as to increase government transparency for greater public awareness of the success or failure of COVID-19 response policies.
