Petition to the Government of Canada
- On March 10, 2017, the Government House Leader released a discussion paper regarding changes to the Standing Orders of the House of Commons;
- Proposed changes in this discussion paper include eliminating Friday sessions of the House of Commons, permanent limits to debate in the House of Commons and Standing Committees, and the Prime Minister being required to answer questions on only one day a week in the House of Commons; and
- Transparency of Government operations and the ability for all Members of Parliament to hold the Government to account are of paramount importance to the functioning of Canadian democracy.
