Petition to the House of Commons in Parliament assembled

Whereas:
  • We, the undersigned, hereby petition the Government of Canada to officially recognize the third Sunday in October as Latin-American Remembrance Day;
  • This initiative seeks to honour the invaluable contributions and sacrifices of Latin-American veterans to Canada’s military history and multicultural identity; and
  • Latin-American individuals have played a significant role in defending Canada’s values and freedoms throughout history, yet their contributions often remain overlooked or underrepresented in mainstream narratives.
We, the undersigned, Latin-American Soldiers Committee, call upon the House of Commons in Parliament assembled to urge the Government of Canada to take action to recognize the third Sunday in October as Latin-American Remembrance Day. We call upon elected officials and policymakers at all levels of government to support this initiative and work towards its implementation.
By officially designating the third Sunday in October as Latin-American Remembrance Day, Canada has the opportunity to honor the legacy of Latin-American veterans and ensure that their sacrifices are never forgotten. We believe that this gesture of recognition will not only pay tribute to the courage and dedication of Latin-American servicemembers but also strengthen the bonds of unity and diversity that define our nation.
