Petition to the Government of Canada
- Section 2b of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms grants everyone, “the freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication” and section 2c grants everyone, “the freedom of peaceful assembly”;
- There is currently no process in place to address the concerns of peaceful assemblies;
- Without a process for peaceful assemblies, they can become disruptive to society and frustrating to protestors, who feel their concerns are not being heard or addressed; and
- Dialogue is presumed to be the fastest way to peacefully resolve issues.
