Petition to the Government of Canada
- Our wild forests built Canada as a nation and in principle are renewable;
- Canada's forests comprise numerous tree species each fit to survive in particular geographic provenances;
- Understanding of the physiological basis for intrinsic survival fitness remains rudimentary for all of Canada's tree species and provenances;
- Rapid climate change is underway and threatens ongoing survival of our forests;
- Scientific research to understand tree survival fitness is no more long term and no less important than the activities of Canada Space Agency;
- Advancing scientific knowledge about intrinsic survival fitness of our trees will ensure that Canada's forests can be sustained in perpetuity; and
- Under the Department of the Environment Act, Environment and Climate Change Canada has responsibility to preserve and enhance Canada's native flora.
