Petition to the House of Commons
- Consumers may be harmed when they do not understand the non-prescription drugs and natural health products they take;
- In 2016, 1 in 143 Canadian seniors was hospitalized due to harmful effects of medication;
- Without benefit of recommendation and guidance from healthcare providers, it is important that consumers receive clear and consistent information on non-prescription drugs and natural health products prior to purchase; and
- Plain Language Labelling improves the safety of non-prescription drugs by providing consumers with important information on outer packaging, in a standardized format.
