Petition to the Government of Canada
- Escalating gun violence and death by firearms in Canada are of grave concern;
- Japan, a country of more than 127 million people with very strict gun controls, has one of the lowest rates of gun crimes in the world and rarely sees more than 10 gun deaths per year;
- In Australia, Germany, and Britain, the number of deaths by firearms fell sharply after strict gun controls and bans were introduced, and these countries now have a much lower rate of gun crimes and firearm deaths than Canada;
- Banning hand guns and military-style assault weapons saves lives and promotes peace and order; and
- The role of the federal government is to enact laws for the peace, order and good government of Canada.
