Petition to the Government of Canada
- The Rohingya crisis is currently the most pressing humanitarian issue;
- Close to 800,000 members of the predominantly Muslim Rohingya minority in Myanmar have been forced to flee to Bangladesh to escape persecution;
- Eighty per cent of these refugees are women and children, who have been subjected to murder, sexual violence including gang rape, arson and constant, overwhelming, oppression inflicted by the Myanmar military on top of long-lasting and systematic discrimination including loss of citizenship by the Government of Myanmar; and
- Canada, as a global humanitarian leader has a responsibility to stop genocide and protect persecuted and endangered minorities.
