Petition to the Minister of Justice
- Constable Wynn was shot and killed in the line of duty by an individual out on bail;
- Evidence of the criminal history of Constable Wynn's killer was not presented at the bail hearing;
- It is not required under the Criminal Code for prosecutors to lead evidence of the criminal history of bail applicants;
- Bill S-217, known as Wynn's Law, would close the loophole in the Criminal Code by requiring prosecutors to lead evidence of the criminal history of bail applicants;
- The Senate of Canada passed Wynn's Law by a wide margin;
- The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada said the "government does not support the bill".
