Petition to the Government of Canada
Whereas:
- There has been credible evidence of fraud and manipulation in the July 28, 2024, Venezuelan Presidential election;
- The international community has forcefully called on Nicolás Maduro's regime to fully release all voting records at polling stations across the country;
- The brutal Maduro authority has forced over 7.7 million Venezuelans to flee their country from socialist oppression since 2014;
- Thousands of Venezuelans have been arrested and dozens have been killed for opposing the communist dictator, Maduro; and
- Canada has a proud record of standing for democracy and freedom abroad.
We, the undersigned, citizens and residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to:
1. Deem the results of Venezuela's July 28, 2024, Presidential election illegitimate and recognize Edmundo González Urrutia as the rightful victor in the election;
2. Demand the Maduro regime release the full vote count and access to voting records at polling stations;
3. Impose sanctions on all individuals associated with the Maduro regime complicit with violating international law and the Venezuelan constitution; and
4. Do everything in its power to support the people of Venezuela as they fight for freedom and real democracy in their country.
