In July 2020, 68% of witnesses were pre-tested and 32% of witnesses had no pre-test. In August 2020, 54% of witnesses were pre-tested and 46% of witnesses had no pre-test. In October 2020, 81% of witnesses were pre-tested and 19% of witnesses had no pre-test. In November 2020, 64% of witnesses were pre-tested and 36% of witnesses had no pre-test. In December 2020, 55% of witnesses were pre-tested and 45% of witnesses had no pre-test. In January 2021, 88% of witnesses were pre-tested and 12% of witnesses had no pre-test. In February 2021, 88% of witnesses were pre-tested and 12% of witnesses had no pre-test. In March 2021, 94% of witnesses were pre-tested and 6% of witnesses had no pre-test. In April 2021, 96% of witnesses were pre-tested and 4% of witnesses had no pre-test. In May 2021, 77% of witnesses were pre-tested and 23% of witnesses had no pre-test. In June 2021, 79% of witnesses were pre-tested and 21% of witnesses had no pre-test. In December 2021, 82% of witnesses were pre-tested and 18% of witnesses had no pre-test.

Note: As of February 2021, the House Administration calls all committee witnesses to schedule pre‑tests.

For the period of November 2020 to November 2021, 46.31% of witnesses used a HoC-provided headset, 44.16% of witnesses used a headset from another source, and 9.52% had no headset (using instead a device-integrated microphone). In December 2021, 35.40% of witnesses used a HoC-provided headset, 59.29% of witnesses used a headset from another source, and 5.31% had no headset (using instead a device-integrated microphone).

For the period of February to November 2021, in instances where committee witnesses experienced audio-quality issues, those issues were recorded as related to the following reasons: bad connection 7.91%, headset 32.22%, HoC room or infrastructure 8.64%, human error 8.03%, onboarding or pre-check 41.02%, and Windows updates 1.15%. In December 2021, in instances where committee witnesses experienced audio-quality issues, those issues were recorded as related to the following reasons: bad connection 0%, headset 13.89%, HoC room or infrastructure 16.67%, human error 2.78%, onboarding or pre-check 63.89%, and Windows updates 2.78%.

For the period of November 2020 to November 2021, for committee meeting participants participating by videoconference, 57.40% had a Wi-Fi connection, 40.56% had a wired connection and 2.04% had a cellular connection. In December 2021, for committee meeting participants participating by videoconference, 47.76% had a Wi-Fi connection, 50.16% had a wired connection and 2.08% had a cellular connection.

In general, wired connectivity provides a better audio chain.
